4/12/11

Walmart, Food Lion, & Ingles (4/9)

So, I didn't do to hot today. My first stop was Walmart, and that place always frazzles my nerves.  They worked extra hard to frazzle my nerves today. I was accused of being a theif because I did not get the exact pack of razors that was pictured on the coupon.  The computer had knocked out the coupon.  The cashier told me I was trying to misuse the coupon and steal things.  Then when I was on the verge of asking for all my coupons back and telling her to keep my stuff, she decided to try the coupon one more time with the hand scanner...what happens?  YES! The coupon went through.  Talk about being mad, I was ready to climb across that counter and kick some tale, lol. As always, Walmart always has me buying things I do not need, or didn't go in for.  So, there were alot of things I bought that I didn't have coupons for, but some of those things I did need. Honestly, I think I will from now on stick to the grocery stores & drug stores for most things.  I spend way to much of my (husbands, lol) money in Walmart to be treated like a criminal for trying to use a coupon! ANYWAY...here is what I got...

The items, I had to get, but didn't have coupons for...
  • Bananas
  • Strawberries
  • Bread
  • Mayo (we are mayo loyal, the only brand we get is Dukes)
  • 12 Pk. Dr. Thunder
  • Toilet Cleaner (ughh, my coupon expired last week =(
  • Easter items (egg dye, plastic eggs, etc)
  • Tetley Tea bags (another brand loyalty)
  • Shortcakes (for yummy strawberry shortcake!)
Items I had coupons for...
  • 4 Oil of Olay 2pk soaps (these were $2.72 a box, I had $2 off coupons, so they were $0.72 a box)
  • 3 packs of 12ct. Razors (these were $1.97 a pack, I had $1 off coupons, so they were $0.97 a pack)
  • 2 30ct Tums (these were $1.78, I had $1 off 2, so they were $1.28 each)
Total: $60.00
OOP: $41.85 (which I guess is good considering I got Easter stuff)

So I guess that wasn't too horribly bad for Walmart, but I spent way more than I wanted to.

My next stop was Ingles, I only had a couple things I wanted to grab, and I was still aggravated from my Walmart problems, so I just ran in to get those items, which were...

  • 3 (4 Rolls) Charmin TP (Reg. $3.58, Sale Price $2.88, I had a .25 coupon, which doubled to .50 off, so I paid $2.38 a pack)
  • 4 Suddenly Salad Pasta Salad (Sale Price 10/$10, I had 2 .50 off 2 coupons, which doubled to $1/1, so I paid .50 a box)
  • 2 Lolipops (per my sons request), they were 2/$1)
Total: $21.23
OOP: $10.91 (so I paid about $1.20 for each item)

My next stop was Food Lion, to stock up on pasta sauce.  They had Classico pasta sauce on sale this week 2/$3.  Last week when I stocked up on Pasta, there was a coupon for $1 off 1 jar on the box.  They also had their Ragu on sale again this week 4/$5. Anyway, here is what I got....

  • 4 jars Classico pasta sauce
  • 2 jars Ragu
  • 2 boxes Ronzoni pasta (I had an extra coupon I forgot last week)
  • Onions
  • Gallon of Milk
  • Dole Bagged Salad (I found a coupon next to this item for .75 off 1)
  • 3 packs of instant potatoes
  • 4 cans Chef Boyardee (my son lives off this stuff)
  • 2 Wishbone dressings
  • 2 Airwick Air Freshners
  • Hot dogs
Total (before MVP & Coupons) $46.00
OOP: $22.46

So I saved a little over half, not the best, but pretty good considering the milk and onions alone cost about $7.

Overall, I spent $72 out of pocket, and saved about $55ish.  So overall I didn't do awsome, but I didn't do bad either.
